This dining room set features live edge ash tops throughout.
We had the bases fabricated from 3-inch square tube steel for the table and 2 inches for the benches.
All the steel is ‘blackened’ which is a way of turning the steel black permanently rather than applying a surface coating or powder coating it. All the legs have levelling feet that are padded.
The top is five pieces of ash glued up.
The benches are two pieces of ash glued up.
We always install stabilizing bars under our live edge tables to ensure they remain true over the years.
Because this table was intended for daily use we decided to strip the bark from the live edge and use the cambium layer instead (what’s below the bark). This provides a more durable and lasting edge for any table.
All wood surfaces were sealed and protected with five coats of water-based polyurethane.
We delivered and installed the table and benches in the client’s dining room.
