This tabletop was re-purposed from 12-inch pine planks that were well weathered from sitting outside at an old homestead. The deep grain and staining created naturally by water create an exciting effect and warm feel.
The custom paint job is hand done and intuitively created "on the fly". I rarely 'pre-design' what I do and prefer to do a quick pencil sketch on the actual piece followed by an editing phase done in paint. The sharp edge of the border sets off nicely against the curves of the stylized grass and trees.
The base is constructed of maple and features turned legs. This base was actually the kitchen table I sat at as a child and was passed down to me by my parents when I moved out some years ago. I completely dismantled and refinished it to bring it back to its former glory.
The table sits four generously and is best suited for a kitchen table although other uses are of course possible.
