This hope chest features solid hardwood construction throughout.
The ash wood utilized was locally sourced and milled and kiln-dried on-site at AikenKraft.
The box features hand-cut dovetail joinery and vintage handles purchased at a local antique store.
The picture frame top is sturdy and features a hand-painted name on the inside surface.
The base is solid 1-inch material and creates a nice weight, in terms of looks, to the piece.
The bottom of the box is lined in aromatic cedar that makes every opening of the chest truly enjoyable.
We clear-coated all surfaces with water-based polyurethane for protection and lasting durability.
With boxes like this (toy or otherwise) we always use slow close mechanisms so fingers never get pinched…because we know how much that hurts!
