I recovered the wrought iron base of this piece from a local auction house. It was very rusty and required a lot of love to get it back to its original glory. I painted the base in a glossy black that really makes it sing. I have kept the original design for the folding seat, allowing the user to sit and put on the shoes they have recovered from the attached shelf. The seat and back are made from ash and hand-scraped to match the arch in the metalwork. The shoe shelf is made from rustic pine and features walnut veneer shelves. There are six shoes sized spaces and two for boots. The cubbies can also be used for hats and gloves and that sort of thing.
