We live in farm country and there are a lot of barns in various states of repair in our area.
Some barns didn’t make it, mostly due to neglect.
Our customer decided to take fate into their own hands and rescue this barn before it was too late.
The key task for us was to reinforce and strengthen the structure wherever possible.
We also increased beam sizing to eliminate some mid supports that were getting in the way of the barns functionality.
We reinstated the third story loft for storage.
We weatherized the barn from the inside so that it could be insulated and used as work or living space later on in the process.
Staying true to the historic look and feel of the barn was important to us while using modern materials to be conscious of the budget.
