This customer was tired of replacing their air conditioner covers so they decided to construct something a little more durable and pleasing to the eye out of wood.
The wall-mounted unit is friction fit, so that it stays put, but is easily removed when necessary.
The shiplap siding presented a challenge in terms of design and weather tightness, but the weatherstripping installed on the wall side edges did the trick.
The ground-mounted unit is constructed from exterior grade plywood and cedar and is painted to match the house.
There are handles mounted on either end of the unit for easy removal and storage in the spring.
