This painting is a series of layers. The background serves as the surface for a spray paint stenciling technique that builds the surface for the hand-painted foreground. This piece is about our physical spaces, technology and how we interpret information within each. Dalton Trumbo's book Johnny Got His Gun served as an inspiration for the theme and an ode to the Metallica video One is present in the painting as well. I ponder how technology mirrors the atrocities of war and leaves many feeling empty and lifeless.
