This piece was created pixel by pixel. The method was to paint like a printer print, one pixel at a time, line by line. This is part of my "reforestation series" that speaks about garbage found in nature. The image was taken from one of my original photographs and abstracted through the painting process. This particular image was taken in a stream in a local forestry track run by the municipality to manage tree growth. Despite regularly spaced no dumping signs it seems the local population is too lazy to take their garbage to the dump and regularly would put the garbage and hazardous waste at the entrance to these trails, knowing the municipal workers would have to remove it. Each square is painstakingly created by taping off the edges one by one. Like most of my work, this is about time, labour and how we impact our environments.
This piece has a modern stainless steel frame.
